Mooning Saturday

by Phil Chambers

Well, the sky did clear up. The temp started at 45 deg and dropped to 41. The humidity started at 72% and climbed to 92. The N5 did fine with the dew heater. Rich N and Alan ? were there.

The sky was transparent but the seeing was, in a word, lousy. Kind of like lying on the bottom of a swimming pool and looking up.

All I was there for was to compare some eps and guesstimate fovs with the NS5. Some where along the way, m13 got real fuzzy so on went the dew htr. Recently purchased a 32 teleview plossl. Very nice. With the RC on the N5 I get about 1.5 deg or better. I compared its field of view with a CI Ultima 2x (16mm) to a 16mm UO konig. No contest, the Konig had 20-30% wider fov. I also compared to my 30mm CI plossl, the 32 is clearer to the edge with a wider field.

We left about 11:15.
