Jason Newquist, David Kingsley and I showed up at Montebello this evening.
Since my scope was still in my shop with its newly mounted dew heater and I just got home from a meeting, I had grabbed my 7x50s and a chair after reading that someone would be there and headed up. The clarity was surprisingly good to the south and west. The "ridge running scud" was only present in very small non intrusive amounts until the Moon started to come up about 10:30. Simultaneously with that event the sky fogged over, Jasons scope dewed over and my feet got cold (Dave had a thermometer and it read 34 degF most of the evening). The cars all had ice on their roofs.
Dave was working on the Her. 400, Jason was learning his new Refractor, and I was searching out various M objects in my binocs like 41, 46, 50, etc.. It was a nice evening with good company but I will put on my overshoes next time.
