...while doodling around in the area of Janssen Monday night (that would be the 5/24/99) I noticed a very subtle but really pretty obvious scarpy valley running from the eastern edge of Janssen to nearly the eastern edge of Piccolomini.
This gave it the same "focus" as Valles Rheita and Snellius, both of which could still be seen. Which is, of course, nearly the bullseye in Mare Nectaris.
Like Rheita is has a flattish scalloped are to the east of the pronounced ridge, but it is less distinct though maybe twice as wide as Rheita and nearly as long.
I don't know what caused these weird valleys, and it has been maybe two years since I noticed Vallis Snellius for the first time... and now there are three!
I'm pretty sure this one isn't named. I'm also pretty sure I'm not the first person to notice it... but keep an eye out when the terminator is in that area and I think you'll be able to find it too.
Anybody else seen this one before?
