Bolide at The Peak night of 4/17

by John Kuklewicz

I saw what has to be the same bolide from Plettstone. It was in the SSW sky, first noticeable about 60 degrees up and fading when within 20 or so degrees of the horizon. (Closer than that to the ridge.)

It was -very- much brighter than Venus (long since set) or Mars (about on the meridian).

Michelle saw it also and noted that it looked purple at the end. I don't remember hearing the thunder described by John G, nor do I recal seeing it broken into pieces.

Sure was spectacular!
