Last Wednesday, the 10th, halfway between Greenfield and King City, on 101 heading down the Salinas Valley, there was a full halo around the Sun, sporting a full spectrum. Never seen anything like it before. I'd seen full halos, mostly from boats, but not with color like this one. A vapor trail was just at that time cutting an exact diameter thru the circle.
Pulled over to gaze in wonder, and that vapor trail was now cutting an exact tangent off the edge of the halo, with a loop of its tail toward the ground, much like a flourish, as if to say, "Now how dya like that one?"
Carnival of wonders.
