Just wishing everyone a merry Christmas! I'm down in sunny Santa Barbara with my 6" AP. Weather was mild last night, only down to 30°F.
Seeing was fair, planetary viewing was great just after sunset, with Jupiter showing nice detail at 225x and the added bonus of a moon transit with the shadow showing up very nice.
Saturn was very nice, on several occasions, I was able to spot the Enke Division.
This morning (12/25), the solar filter came out and there are about 25 mini spots in about 3 groups on the surface. This is the first time that I have used the AP for solar and I was impressed! I had razor sharp views and could see major granulation in about 3 large areas on the surface!
Cheers to all and God bless!
