After spending the afternoon photographing at Pt. Lobos for the CarmelCoast.com web page (its a nasty job but somebody's got to do it) :-) I came home and set up the GM8 with the Intes, and two cameras mounted on a long dovetail plate. At about 10:00 pm I was able to get out and do some shooting.
I didn't have a clear sight of Polaris, so alignment was difficult and time was limited. So I may have some field rotation. The main point of the exercise was to test the new Kodak PJ400 film. Kodak PJM is being discontinued, and PJ400 looks to be the most likely candidate to replace it. One camera was shooting PJ400 35mm and the other was shooting PPF 120. Both cameras had 200mm lenses. When I finish the rolls and get them processed I'll report the results.
The seeing was fairly good by the time I was running out of steam at midnight, but I couldn't just tear down without a good look through something other than a 9mm reticle eyepiece. I put the 35mm Panoptic in the Intes, and Orion's nebula was spectacular. It has been a while since I've had a good look at it. I had forgotten how bright the nebulae around NGC 1977 and 1975 were. It was a nice break from the rain.
