Lunar observing Tue night

by Paul Sterngold

I set up my 8" Cave Newt next to Richard Navarrete's 6" Meade Newt last night in his driveway to do some lunar observing. Despite moderate to poor seeing, we managed to enjoy ourselves and catch some nice views. We spent quite a bit of time along Hyginus Rille and the surrounding features. We also did some eyepiece comparisons as well as comparing the views in our two scopes.

Around 10pm, a very light misting rain hit us for a minute or two, and left very poor seeing in its wake. We took a quick gander at the Trap, and 'e' was just visible, 'f' was not. No surprise, the stellar images were very blob-like. And I think there might be some nebulosity in the vicinity?

The views in the 6" Newt were amazing. That's quite a scope, Richard!
