After driving a less than I expected congested roads, got home around 5:30, looked outside and there was clearing toward south, south-west. Took out the mighty C4.5 and pointed it toward Jupiter, there they were all the moons lined up and ready for the great show... I thought I could finally see the triple shadow across the giant planet , while setting up the scope I turned toward the beautiful Venus shinning ever so brightly in the west... Now it is 5:55pm grabbed a beer and headed to the TV to watch the much anticipated Niners game hoping that at the next commercial break I'd get a chance to go back outside. The game took an interesting turn and I just completely forgot to get back to my setup in time to watch the initial transit. It is now 7:00pm and guess what, I am standing on my deck looking up at the cloudy sky and wonder why it was happening, wrapped up everything and brought them back in. Good thing Niners kicked the crap out of the eagles or I would have ...... I guess we get another chance in 2004, lets hope for a clear night then.
