Last night there was a small gathering at York School in Monterey. There were about 7 or 8 scopes and a fair number of interested observers. This was my first time at York and there was some confusion about where to set up. Some set up on the upper field, and others set up in a parking lot to the west of the field. There were a number of new observers who I informed about TAC.
The field has good horizons, but suffers from some very bright security lights for the parking lot below the field. The parking lot didn't have as good horizons, and also suffered from distant security lights. It was not a problem for observing Jupiter and the Moon, but this would not be a good site for the dark of the Moon. Hopefully, we will be able to get access to Rancho San Carlos or the Fish Ranch.
Some classes from Hartnell College and various high schools sent students for extra credit. So, there were quite a few students asking questions and getting papers signed.
The seeing was fairly good. 250x was most useful on the Moon and Jupiter. I don't any observations to report because most of my time was spent helping people.
