Well I made it up to Del Valle for a short evening of meteor watching. I got there about 9:15 with my wife and kids who immediatly put out the lawn chairs and went to sleep. I didn't know how much I was going to see since I wanted to leave by 11:00 or 11:30 because I have to get up at 6:00 for work. What I saw was incredible! Of the 6 or 7 that I saw two were amazing. If you held a ruler up to the sky they would have been 1/4" wide and 3 or 4 feet long. They looked like fireworks when they get shot up in the sky before they explode. It was an amazing sight. The other 5 or 6 were smaller bursts and I just caught those out of the corner of my eye. I had set up my scope to look around while I was waiting but the moon wasn't cooperating much. I was the only one at the turnout until about 11:15 when Paul Sterngold showed up. (Very nice to get to meet you Paul). There were however lots of people parked along the road towards the top of the hill. Some came for the meteors, some to play loud music. That's OK. It was a great night and worth the sleepiness I'm feeling at 7:00 am this morning at work. Dis anyone else stay up late. What's your report?
