For a guy who got waylaid, you surely give a fine and humorous report!

I just wanted to add a few impressions of my own, very quickly...

Jupiter was a fabulous show, even with the poor seeing. It was wonderful watching little Io transit Jupiter while nipping at the heels of its shadow. It was fun getting acquainted with the family who owned the new Celestron scope, and fun to look through their new toy! If you folks are out there, please come again!

Thanks to Michelle Stone for sharing her "8-inch F11.25 off-axis dob" and its fine Jupiter and Ring Nebula views; to Mark Wagner, who helped me see, for the first time, the Blinking Planetary in Cygnus, an object that has eluded me for a quite awhile (despite being able to see many dimmer, more difficult objects); to Bruce Prickett, for coming over and locating Uranus in my scope, a nice experience; to a kind Pronto owner (very sorry to say I cannot remember the name - please let me know!) who graciously found the Cocoon Nebula and gave me a lovely wide-angle view; and to Peter Natscher, who gave me a little experience with a large StarMaster dob, similar to my future 18" - it was a mighty fun evening, one that I hope can be repeated many times.
