Astronomy Day at the PAS
By Rich Neuschaefer

Yeaterday (Saturday) at 5pm the clouds looked very bad and by 5:30pm they started to break a little. I didn't think it was clear enough to drive to the Peak so I went to Foothill College. It was the PAS Astronomy Day star party and they had asked for scopes. When I got there there were hand written signs saying the observatory is closed due to clouds. There were a few people in the parking lot so I waited and about sundown set up my 180mm. In about 30 minutes there were about 15 people wanting to see the comet. Then one of the PAS members came up with his new Takahashi 225mm Newt/Cas and a few minutes later Wm Phelps came with his 180mm and big binos on a stand followed by Bill M. with a 80x20 binos.

The seeing was very good for a while and the floor of Posidonius was showing lots of detail. The comet looked nice and Mars was showing some detail too but by the time I got to looking at it the clouds were comming over and air was less steady.

Maybe 75 or more people came to look through the telescopes and binos.
