July 25, 2009: Henry Coe

Stacy Jo McDermott

Yes, it's been quite a while since I posted and also quite a while since I observed!

Went down to Henry Coe State Park on Saturday to get some photons that I've been deprived of...and it was a wonderful night!

Had a great turn out of about 14 telescopes, the weather was perfect and the sky was very clear. The Milky Way stood out nicely despite the Gilroy Nebula.

I took down my Orion 6" Starblast that I acquired last summer. Got wonderful views of the moon and craters, the Jewel Box in Scorpius, visited some long neglected summer friends such as M8, M13 & M31 to name a few.

Was able to catch the ISS as it went overhead and yes, I waved at the astronauts LOL.

While I had to cut out around midnight, it was a pleasure meeting new faces, particularly Steve and Tingting who were set up next to me.

Hope to see all you TACo's in the coming months.
