Calstar 2008

I just wanted to drop a quick OR about this years Calstar. It was one of the most enjoyable (if not THE most enjoyable) I have attended... and I started attending 9 years ago.

The conditions were fine. It was hot during the day, but not too hot. I was surrounded by friends old and new. I managed to split my time between visual and photographic nicely. Even the politics this year were interesting :-) The highlight for me was definitely the time I spent 'team observing' with Paul S and Richard O. Thanks guys, it was a blast.

Hat's off to Rob on another great event. Successful events don't happen by luck, but by hard work and dedication. Though the organization of Calstar is changing slightly, I'm sure next years event will live up to the high bar that has been set the last 9 years.

I have weeks of captured photons to tame, but here is an early result (insert appropriate imager's wiggle words decrying a need for more processing here) taken on the first night with my 13" newt:
