I drove through Tilden Park in the east bay and passed a large group of Berkeley lunatics gathering at Inspiration Point after sunset. I decided to continue out the park on Wildcat Canyon and headed east on Bear Creek Road while keeping an eye on the progress of the partial eclipse. I ended up pulling into Briones Regional Park in Lafayette about a half hour before totality with the moon partially obscured by the clouds. Fortunately, as totality reached the copper-colored moon reached a relatively clear stretch of sky and we had a pretty decent view until towards the end of totality, particularly in 15x50 IS binoculars. Anyone actually have a totally clear view in the bay area?
