Mark Wagner
Location: Slow lane, eastbound Highway 280 approaching 7th Street, San Jose.
5:55 p.m. It appeared there was a cloud in front of half the full moon. Traffic slowed to a crawl. Then I realized it was not a cloud. Half the moon was in fuzzy-edged darkness. Is this why cars were almost stopped on the freeway? The eclipse was underway. The nice curved edge of the shadow was the give-away that it was not just a cloud. Nice view. Wish I could have parked there.
Location: Aikido Dojo, Martha and 5th streets, San Jose
7:15 p.m. Looked out east facing windows of second floor of building, hands cupped around face pressed against the glass. Others asked what I was doing. Moon was barely visible in clouds as mushy oblate glow. However, ruddy rusty color was still obvious.
Location: Home, downtown SJ
8:00 p.m. Clouds. Lots of them. No moon visible.
All in all.... better than nothing!
