ISS and Shuttle pass

by Alexander Avtanski

Hello,

We live in an apartment complex and we have a neighbor family that we often call when there is something interesting to see, like tonight's the ISS/shuttle pass. This time we were watching "Blue Planet" on Discovery channel and I told my daughter who was playing outside - "If you see Mr. Greg, let him know that in 9pm we'll be watching the station and the shuttle". "Sure" she says, and walks outside to play.

"Blue Planet" ends, I pick up my binoculars, check the pass data, go outside and find... 16 other people (I counted them!) assembled on the lawn outside, all peering intently in the sky, and some passers-by stopping too.

That's some pressure, because sometimes Heavens-Above.com's predictions for the shuttle are not very accurate. Luckily both the station and the shuttle were on time! Phew...

It was a great pass, right on time, especially with the shuttle/station entering shadow in a very nice position from our viewpoint. Very impressive.

Regards,

- Alex
