Holmes grows...

Jamie Dillon

Tonight we had our first clear skies since Wednesday night. Big changes! The thing is huge. In 10x50 binocs, I saw a dark gap between the bright inner core and the fuzzy outer halo. Pulled out the scope, and oh my the view in the 10mm. I have never seen anything remotely like this in a telescope. It's vast. Measured ca 15' diameter.

From the very bright nucleus, the inner core does look like it's fanning out to the West, making the nucleus look off center. That outer halo is pretty damn impressive in the scope.
