Another McNaught daylight observation ...

by Jeff Crilly

Just saw it. Been watching it for a bit before sunset. (Given the horizons around here I figured there is no chance of seeing it from this locale after sunset.) It is really tough to find when there are trees in the FOV. The trees make me focus near, and I have to trick my eyes into focusing far. To avoid the sun, I stood on the east side of the house and put the sun below the roofline. (Kids, don't try this at home.) I couldn't really get it neked eye... I used the 9x63 binos handheld, then w/ a tripod once I found it. There's just too many wires and trees to disctract my eyes for neked eye. I can imagine it at FP SW lot - probably a fantastic spot for observing it right now.
