First Star Queen conducts court from Castro Valley

by Richard Crisp

This is another image from the Stinger 450mm Classical Cassegrain.

M16 never gets very high up here in Northern California but I am just thankful I can get it at all. In my backyard I have to shoot over my roof and over the worst part of the Bay area in terms of distance of city, muck in the air etc.

When shooting this it ranged from 25 to about 35 degrees elevation. It was shot over three nights and is a total of 6 and a half hours of exposure. All subexposures were 30 minutes. I used Custom Scientific 3nm FWHM narrowband filters, a Finger Lakes CM10 Maxcam and a Finger Lakes CFW1 Filter Wheel.

I thought about working on the red haloes but I sort of secretly like them :-)
