Herbig Haro 555 in Halpha (in the Pelican Nebula)

by Richard Crisp

This was taken from the backyard using my 450mm Stinger Classical Cassegrain. It is 6 x 30 minutes of Halpha through a Custom Scientific 3nm Ha filter. The native f/12.6 was reduced to f/7.1 via the reducer in a Lumicon Giant Easy Guider, which also served as an off axis guide port for the St7E guide camera. Images were captured using a Finger Lakes CM10 Maxcam coupled to a Finger Lakes CFW1 filter wheel.

Seeing was better than average, measuring a tad less than 3 arc-seconds in FocusMax HFD measurements.

I have heard folks call this "the elephant's trunk" but it looks more like a snake that just caught a fish with two bug-eyes :-) .
