Anyone up for observing?

by Jess Delaney

I was out in my backyard in Antelope last night with my N11 GPS getting incredibly clear views of the Orion Nebula. I mean it was as good as any view from HGO I have ever had, through ANY scope there! I was using my Denkmeier Power Switch diagonal and a Panoptic 22mm. As the night went on, Saturn came up over my tree and wow! Also, for the first time, I was able to get a hint of the Crab with averted vision. If it weren't for the accuracy of this scope, I could probably not have found it at all.

I have never seen the sky so clear as last night!! Moon was, of course, way gone.

I am going to Hawaii early next month and how I wish I could take that scope with me on the trip. Hey, do you think if I mark, FRAGILE on the JMI case the baggage handlers will be careful with it??? (I'm only kidding!)
