Transit of Mercury Underway

by Phil Chambers

Houge park was great.

I drove over there about 12:30 thinking there would only be a couple of of folks but... the line was full 10 - 15 scopes. Several PSTs as well as all sizes of scopes with regular solar filters.

Koop was showing a projection using a 4 inch (?) lens that was f300. That was NOT a typo. The projection was 100 feet away about a foot in diameter. Quite a setup.. LOL

Quite a few visitors also. Very nice. The weather was mild and the clouds/rain non-existant.

Is it just me or does it seem the weather forcasters for this area are getting worse and worse. 2 days or so ago, rain was forcasted for Wed.
