solar viewing 9/26

by Michael Swartz

Well here I am at an obscure little park in Santa Clara sending this msg from my phone. I have my solar scopes set up and have been enjoying viewing the sun. It is a nice way to spend a lunch hour.

Thr sun is mostly blank on the photosphere. But the h-alpha view is alive with surprises!

There is a lot of deep turbulent swirling and intricate filiments around where a subspot group used to be. Thr spots are gone but the magnetic activity remains.

Most exciting today is a large prominence structure standing along the top which looks to me like a giant ant! No, Really! Wild stuff!

Well, that's it for today.

Hope to see you next time.
