After the long wait for the weather to improve, it felt like a season's opening at Monte Bello last night. Good crowd with a variety of scopes under good skies, as reported by George. Also good PR, as he gave the ranger her first view of Saturn. The rings seen with your own eyes (1 eye only) for the first time are a pure delight.

I had been waiting to finish the list of 110 Ms and this was the perfect night for it. M91 took some teasing out, the rest were clear smudges. Now what?

On the question of "How many objects/hr?" posted by Sean on Tue Apr 25 2006, I visited 24 in little over 4 hours, 13 of them galaxies and 4 asteroids. Failed splitting Epsilon of Bootes--too many bubbles.

On the way down at 1 am I noticed San Jose getting its blanket of night clouds. A welcome sign of summer.
