Friday night IHOP

by Jake Burkart

I had a narrow window of opportunity open up for me last night so I quickly threw my equipment in my truck and headed up to IHOP. I made a stop in El Dorado Hills to drop some food off to a friend and gas up the truck. I arrived at IHOP about 8:40. I started to unpack, setup my tripod, wedge, pulled out my 345 lb battery, and .. Wait. where the hell is my toolbox with my power cords, flash light, all the cables I need for imaging, and every other small part for my rig?????

A quick call home confirmed that it was right were I left it in the garage. I started thinking through what was really necessary in that box.

  1. The cigarette lighter port that wires onto my battery terminals

  2. The power cord for my Nexstar 11.

With those two things I would have been in business, although I wouldn't have had everything for imaging. So note to self: Self, buy a backup cigarette lighter adapter thingy and a put one of your extra scope power cables somewhere in the cab of your truck as a spare.

I drove home and was asleep by 11:00 p.m.

I can almost hear all you dob owners snickering under your breath.
