FP 5/29/005 .... and another ngc7k

by Jeff Crilly

It started out a bit wild... clouds covering the peak, wind whipping around... and it was downright cold... yet, it wasnt nearly dark yet.

However, about an hour before sunset, the wind settled down, and it became quite pleasant.

We did have two bouts of "rising fog"... 100%RH, the usual engulfment. This was around 10pm. However, it did back off, and the night was one of the better FP nights for me.

I spent more time on the North American.. This is 40 minutes total with the 8" Schmidt Newt + 300D + 6nm halpha filter... http://home.crilly.org/astro/300D/ngc7kha.html (Fwiw, I've got some additional exposures and darks from last night, and still need to work on improving this image.) IMO, it still needs more signal.. I'm starting to figure out the camera... longish exposures do work, but it hits sky fog pretty quickly without a filter (hence, there were some lost shots.)
