lots of galaxies near M101

by Richard Crisp

Last night I went to Fremont Peak for imaging. Among other objects I shot this RGB(!) image of M101.

There are a ton of galaxies in this image. I had no idea there were so many faint background ones near M101.

conditions were good until a bit after the moon rose. The skies were very nice and dark without the moon. It got cold and windy around 3am when the front blew through. It may be even nicer tonight up there. I plan to go back.
