TSP days 6 & 7

by Darrell Lee

We got in a full night of viewing Friday night, although dew was a bit of a problem. I completed my basic telescope observing pin to go wih my basic binocular observing pin. My last five objects weren't very satisfactory, as they were all open clusters in Vulpecula, and I couldn't separate the clusters from the rich background star fields. Maybe I should have used a smaller scope than my 18" for this project, although I couldn't see clusters using my finder scope, either.

The full night of viewing wasn't as good as it sounded, since transparency was once again poor. Dennis and Len finished their advanced lists of Arp galaxies, two of 32 hard-core observers to complete that list.

Tonight we're totally clouded in, with predictions for severe thunderstorms, possibly clearing by 1:00 a.m., depending on whose forecast you believe. Everyone has packed their scopes.
