Mt. Diablo

by Richard Ozer

Looks like Mt. Diablo was the place. Temps in the high 50's most of the night, no wind, bone dry, and the thick marine layer (about 1000 feet below the summit) covered all the city lights. Transparency was clear except for a wide wisp of high altitude crud at about 3:00 am. Seeing was very good, particularly in the early morning hours. Limiting magnitude was between 5.0 and 5.5; a rare occurence for Mt. Diablo. I bagged 105 messiers... messed up on the ones in Capricorn and Southern Sag... We also saw the shadow transit of Europa.
