2005 January 04 - Comet Machholz

by Stacy Jo McDermott

last night before turning in, I decided to see if it were still raining. Lo and behold, to my delighted surprise! It was clear, it was steady, it was grand!

I looked up and just barely made out Comet Machholz nekked eye and then decided to slap together the 80mmST Refractor (The Delta Flyer) to get a eye candy look...I was not disappointed in the least...even got my housemate to take a look AND I did a sketch at the eyepiece that came out rather nice if I might say so myself.

I thought I made out some assemblence of a tail, but can't be sure (I was dealing with a street light), but the main body was compact with a bightened center and just what this konstellation kitty needed (prrrrrrrr).

Turned in afterwards with that vision embedded in my brain for a lovely night of astro-dreams.
