Dec 14/15 Sunset district SF

by Michael Linnolt

Well, made 6 nights in a row from SF! But had little free time, so just did a couple of cataclysmic variables and checked U GEM for the satellite team. It appers to be brightening slightly, but not yet exceed the "outburst threshold" of 13.5 Very clear sky to the south, so Itook a close look at Q2/Maccholz. It has developed a bright central condensation and the coma apears larger and more diffuse than several nights ago. I even could detect a little of the broad tail pointing to the west. Once this comet starts heading north in the next few weeks, it should be a grand sight!
