Fremont Peak Satuday Night Dec 11

by Richard Crisp

i was at the ranger row area behind the gate last night. Peter Natscher, Phil Terzian and Rob Griffin also set up in that area and John Gleason and Robert Armstrong were up at the pads area.

the seeing was really amazing and the skies were clear. I've not seen Procyon burning near-steady too many times but last night that was what was happening.

There was also a strong wind blowing.

I had my 18" cassegrain with me and by the time I was ready to start imaging the wind picked up and kept with it all night.

For me it was useless to try to take any images: the big cass just acts like a sail.

Speaking of sails, I think I will look into a way to block the wind using poles, tarps and the little trailer I bought from Guillermo. Otherwise it is going to be hard to use that big scope in real field conditions.

Great night up there: not very cold (55-63 most of the night) but windy.
