Sunset SF Friday 12/10

by Michael Linnolt

Conditions worse than Thurs nite, with mixture of high clouds and low foggy crud. LM=13.2 at best in 8". Only saw 4 moons of saturn - Titan, Rhea, Tethys and Dionne at 257x. Did some variable stars, as usual, particularly watchful of U GEM, which is a TOO in next outburst for RXTE/NASA Goddard.

IF anyone is interested in getting into some "scientific observing", this is a great opportunity as U GEM (a cataclysmic variable) needs constant and close montoring to detect the start of its next outburst. Reports should go to aavso@aavso.org or contact me for more information on how you can participate in amateur-professional collaborations ;-)
