Lunar Eclipse

by Michael Swartz

Well I decided to take the wife and kids to Houge park so that my little ones would have a place to play while I was admiring La Luna in eclipse. Quite a few hopeful observers showed up, set up and waited. After a while I realized I was cold, my family was cold and we were waiting for ...? So we packed up and headed for home. When we got back to Fremont the sky was really clear and the moon was in full eclipse. So I set up my scope, broke out the binoculars and enjoyed the sight. A few neighbors stopped by, we chatted, observed and had a nice time. right at home in Fremont!

I enjoyed watching the eclipse wane and noticed that although I really love binoviewers, the eclipse actually looked better through my Canon 18x50-IS binos. The color, brightness and contrast was more pleasing.

I enjoy being out with fellow astro-enthusiasts. but sometimes things just look better from home I guess.

I hope you all got to see it too. It was pretty and a little bit strange.
