Coyote 5/8

by Rich Neuschaefer

There were 9 or 10 of us observing at Coyote. There a few thin clouds in the West. It was a little windy and cool but not bad. The sky kept getting better until we left around 2 am. By midnight the wind was quite light and the transparency was very good.

It was a really nice night. I wanted to see if my Lapides modified Tak Tegul alt/az mount would handle my Tak FC-100 f/8. No problem. The combo worked very well. The Tegul was on an AP hardwood tripod via a Lapides adapter.

It was fun trading views with the other guys. Lots of interesting equipment at Coyote last night.

By the time it got moderately dark the couds to the west were gone. At least I didn't see them near the comet. We had very nice views of Comet NEAT. I wish I had taken more time to look at it. The tail was more noticable than from Houge Park the night before.
