ISS flyby...very cool!

by Mike Peck

I just saw the ISS fly by, as predicted by the emails I get from PassGenerator@bashful.msfc.nasa.gov.

Very cool! Extremely bright, very fast moving. The prediction said it would be visible for 10 minutes, but it felt like it was only in view for about 6. Ok, it probably was because it didn't come into view until it was up at about 40 degrees, and disappeared into a neighbor's second floor roof at about 30 degrees.

Using 10x50 binos I was unable to see any details, like general shape or anything like that. I had kind of expected to be able to see the solar panels give it an eliptical shape, as I think I've seen it that way before.

It came and went behind a bunch of lower-level clouds over Fremont. I hope the Coyote bunch is having better skies!
