Apologies for the clouds at Coyote last night

by Bob Jardine

Yes, it was me. Or rather, my new 'scope, TOBY, which collected its first ancient photons last night.

My sincerest apologies to all who suffered. I had thought that I was doing a good thing by postponing first light to Sunday, so that it wouldn't ruin everyone's Saturday night viewing. But this 'scope is just so darn awesome (it's a CPT) that I guess it affected both nights.

I got home at 2:30 AM (yes, there were more and better sucker holes later), and work calls, so a first light report will have to wait until after work today.

About the name... I know some people name cars, and some name telescopes (there's Jamie's Felix, of course, and Rashad's Old School, and probably many others). I usually don't name stuff, but this 'scope begs for one. I'll explain the name in the first light report (unless anyone wants to make a contest out of guessing). Here's a hint:

Now that this is out of the way, maybe we'll have clear skies for the new moon weekend coming up...
