Montebello 9/14 - Brief

by Stacy Jo McDermott

There were about 16 telescopes at the Montebello Star Party tonight. Partly cloudy and comfortable temperature most of the night. (I left at 9.30'ish). My object of the night was the moon. Various people tried their hand at other objects with success. Uranus in Phil's scope was quite nice as was Alberio in James' scope. Smallish crowd but very interested in all the sights. Jay gave a very lovely talk and it was noted that the crowd really appreciated his knowledge (as do we all).

I did some solar observing for about an hour and was able to sketch a decent rendition of a couple of very nice solar spot groups (one reminded me of John Lennon's self portrait.)

All in all, a very pleasant evening with lovely friends and a great crowd.
