Dino last night and new lights :-(

by Peter Santangeli

Dino last night was very pleasant. A little bit of a wind (varied over the evening from not noticable to a steady breeze), but certainly not too much.

A few complaints about softness.

The temperature was low'ish - 57 degrees or so, which when combined with the wind made it a bit cool.

I had forgotten how dark Dino is... or was.

The bad news is that there have been some new lights installed on the damn, and they are quite bright. Also, a new windmill has been added that has a flashing light on top!

These developments are certainly unfortunate, but there may be hope. We took a walk up the road to the other parking lot, and the hills block out the lights. There is quite a slope on the paved side, but the dirt side is much flatter. There are of course no facilities. The skies were quite dark, as the hills blocked out essentially all the light domes from this location. Perhaps we will try this spot next time.

Despite the problems, we had a good time with less than 10 of us. I managed to take a couple of good shots:
