In the yard again....

by William G. Schultz

I spent a delightful evening in my Evergreen backyard, for the first time since November 4.

Humidity grew as the temps dropped to 43F. My references, records and unused EPs were drenched after midnight, but surprisingly, the SCT corrector (with flexible cap) remained bone dry.

I was successful in logging 13 brighter H400-1 objects during the short observing session in UMa and CVn, down to Mag:12, which is not bad for inside the city confines. The biggest bonuses of the session: sharing views of M51 and M42 with my wife and young children; and my next door neighbor not light his property to be recognized during ISS flyovers. I am hoping for many repeat sessions in the friendly confines.
