Observing conditions at Plettstone this last weekend

by Michelle Stone

For those who want to know.

Both nights were in the low 50's. I wore a light jacket. Humidity ranged between 80 to 95 percent but dew was not a problem.

Friday night was very nice. Very clear, steady seeing. The stars did not twinkle. We got socked in around 2:30 with clouds.

Saturday night was an okay observing night. Seeing was very good, but we had to observe in sucker holes. We got socked in around 11:30.

I did a lot of binocular observing chasing down Messier galaxies with my 16x70's. I've not done that before this time of year and it was very fun.

All in all it was very pleasant. Especially the barbeque ;)
