Fremont Peak Star Party!

by Peggy Bernard

I finally made it to Fremont Peak Saturday night. Unfortunately, my new 10" DOB still is awaiting its base so I couldn't use it and I left it at home.

I did take my new 8X50 finder up with me though. I was amazed at how well it performed just hand holding it. I was able to see M36, M37 in Auriga and M103 in Cassiopeia. So first light for the finder was M36 and M37 in Auriga!

Saw some other neat stuff with it - Beehive cluster, Orion nebula, Venus and the Moon. It was my first trip to the peak in over 15 years and a lot of my new friends were there as well. I enjoyed their company. I had a really good time and can hardly wait to get the 10" all finished.
