The Moon...

by Gilles Grosgurin

I am new to Astronomy and met some of you at Montebello 2 weeks ago! Tonight was the first time I got to look at the moon using my brand new 8" LX200.

Some of you may not remember what it was like to look at the moon for the first time with a telescope but I do. It was tonight and I'm not about to forget. Using a 40mm super Plossl eye piece made it quite enjoyable....

However the best part was to come a little later when my 4 year old daughter Kayla, finally got a chance to see what that big thing (the scope!) in that big box in my office box could do. She spent about 20 minutes looking at the moon describing those big "snow holes" on the moon.... It was getting late and bed time was soon approaching for Kayla, seeing her excitement made me very happy.....
