Montebello Tuesday Night
By Jeff Crilly

It was clear. No clouds, No fog. Lots of dew. The scope, car, sleeping bag, chair were soaked.

The seeing was steady. Maybe ultra steady. We were able to get good to excellent views of saturn at approx 248x through the ETX. (90mm f/13.8 with a 15mm vixen lanthanum and a 3x televue barlow.)

There were some meteors. Some of us saw a very bright one with green trail, breaking apart, and bright flash in the northwest.

After midnight it was also somewhat dark. I could see all the stars in ursa minor -- usually there is a fair amount of light dome over there that washes it out.

It was busy. Probably about 50 cars came and went during the night. (with headlights on.) Most showed up after midnight.

I put the scope away around 10pm and watched for meteors. There were a few, but I kept falling asleep. Around 2:15am I packed up and headed home.
